HOT YOGA HILO
Owner and founder, Shannon Matson has been practicing various forms of yoga since 2003. When she took her first hot yoga class in 2010 she finally found the class she had been looking for. The heat allowed her to stretch deeper and experience her practice in a whole new way. After completing her teacher training in Spring 2013 she was excited to bring this form of yoga to Hilo, as there is no other hot yoga on this side of the island. Many of the teachers and students she has had the honor and joy of sharing practice with have told her of their profound healing experiences; from losing weight, to being able to cut back or eliminate entirely their heart, thyroid and diabetes medications, to sleeping better and healing depression, to healing old knee and spine injuries, to improving and regulating appetite and mood, the list is endless. Located right in downtown Hilo this studio is a space for EVERYONE! We welcome all people to experience the powerful healing of this yoga in a fun and safe place!
This is the original style of heated yoga and was started by Bikram Choudhury, based on 26 postures and two breathing exercises taken from Hatha Yoga. This sequence was designed to safely stretch all of the major muscle groups in the body. It is a 90 minutes practice, done in a room heated to 105 degrees with 40% humidity. This practice can be performed with great results by anyone, regardless of how much prior yoga experience they have or in what condition their body is in. Amazing results can be achieved by maintaining a frequent practice, with precise postures and gradually increasing the intensity of the postures. Practice in the right way, every day for best results! Even those who have an advanced yoga practice will be surprised at the benefits they can receive from this series.
